What this role actually involves

A Civil Police Officer is a uniformed law enforcement officer responsible for maintaining public order, preventing crime, protecting life and property, and ensuring the effective enforcement of laws. Recruitment is conducted district-wise through the Kerala Public Service Commission (Kerala PSC).

Working under the supervision of the Senior Civil Police Officer, Assistant Sub Inspector, Sub Inspector, and higher-ranking officers, duties include regular beat patrols, responding to emergency calls, maintaining law and order, traffic regulation, crime prevention, assisting in criminal investigations, executing warrants, providing security during public events, and supporting disaster response and rescue operations. Civil Police Officers also engage in community policing initiatives, assist vulnerable citizens, and help maintain public safety through proactive policing.

Scale of Pay: ₹31,100 to ₹66,800. Gross entry emoluments, including Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), uniform allowance, risk allowance, and other eligible benefits, are approximately ₹47,000 to ₹52,000 per month, depending on the place of posting and applicable government allowances.
